BHS Student receives Anti-Doping Education Date: Monday, 28th November, 2016

    Monday, 28th November, 2016 -- Students of Form 4 pursuing studies at the Caribbean Examination Council’s (CXC) CSEC Level in the subject of Physical Education at the Basseterre High School received invaluable information on anti-doping from the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADO) on Friday November 18th, 2016. 

     

    At the session, students were educated on the anti-doping rule violations, World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Prohibited List, Whereabouts, Therapeutic Use Exemptions, Supplements and Consequences of a positive Test. 
     
    Facilitators were Dr. Dwaine Archibald and Mr Andy Otto who are both Doping Control Officers
    .  
    “We were very happy to have this group of motivated young people and it is our intention to collaborate more extensively with other educational institutions so that more students can benefit,” says Mr Leroy Greene, Chair of NADO who was also in attendance. 
     
    The National Anti-Doping Agency was established in St. Kitts and Nevis in 2005 and is presently a member of the Barbados-based Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO) that acts as the secretariat for anti-doping issues for Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba and Bonaire, The Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Dominica, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Grenada, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos Islands. 
     
    The Caribbean RADO is supported by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
