‘Floral Paradise’ at Eco-Park

By: Lorna Callender, Press Release

December 13th, 2016 -- The greenhouse at Eco-Park was transformed into a ‘Floral Paradise’ on Friday and Saturday (2nd and 3rd Dec.2016) when the St. Kitts Flower Arrangers Association held their Annual Show. Colour, line, shape and form were creatively used to make each floral display a real delight to the eyes.

The sheer abundance of flowers and the emotive feelings they evoke because of their texture, colour and smell all contributed to the heavenly aura viewers experienced.  It was easy to recognise that this was a display of love.

The arrangements were many – some depicting the Christmas feeling via the type and colour of flower selected, while candles and dolls were used as well to enhance the portrayals.  There were large and small arrangements; some dried flower compositions; some with one or two colours only, while others exploded in a burst of various hues.

There is no way that words alone can do justice to the beauty of the show so the rest will be told via some selected photos.

It was good to see veteran artist Joan Mallalieu displaying not only her floral arrangements but her floral art as well.  In addition to art on canvases, she also had on display and for sale hand painted kitchen towels with floral or local scenes - which were ideal for Christmas presents.

Other veteran floral arrangers like Jovil Rogers, Gary Thompson and Dorothy Martin all displayed creative arrangements and Kudos must go to them and all the others for the floral paradise into which they led us.
