BVI, 14 December 2016 - The Safe Haven Transitional Centre is seeking the community’s continued support to assist with its clientele recovery and chronic homelessness.
Director Mrs. Jacqueline Donovan said when the centre’s clients have reached the recovery stage and are ready for transition back into society, the support of the community is needed to assist with their employment and apartment rentals.
Mrs Donovan added, “It is also important for family members to play an important part in the recovery process as well, but if they do not, then they have the community to provide that.”
At the centre’s annual Award Ceremony and Luncheon on December 9, the director thanked all those persons who have assisted in 2016 and welcomed new sponsors and partners for the upcoming year. She said the centre remains committed to provide better social support and stable housing to persons experiencing chronic homelessness.
The Award Ceremony and Luncheon was held under the theme, “It takes a community.” Clients and staff including Mr. Donald T; programme aide Mrs. Jana Dubique-Franice; and staff member Mr. Trevor Bridgewater were also recognised for outstanding performances throughout the year.
Acting Permanent Secretary of the Deputy’s Governor’s Office Mrs. Caroyln Stoutt-Igwe was the guest speaker.
