BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A Prickleypear Alley resident was thrust into a state of shock yesterday (Jan. 12) morning after hearing that her house was on fire.
The woman, identified as Jonel Nisbett, occupied the two-bedroom house with her three children.
This publication understands that she left the property intact earlier that morning only to learn that the tragedy had taken place.
A unit from the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services responded to the call. And because the houses in the area are quite close to each other, the officers had to move quickly to ensure that the fire did not spread to any of the other houses.
Fire Chief Everette O’Garro said his officers were able to extinguish the fire within an hour’s time. He indicated however, that the contents of the home were destroyed.
As for the cause of the fire, he said that it remains unknown.
