Police Press Release 18-01-2017: Report of arrests, convictions and other activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, January, 18 2017, (RSCNPF): Below is a report of Arrests, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period January 16th – 17th 2017.

     

    ARREST AND BAIL: 
    Arrested: Gibson Blake of George Street, Newtown was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Burglary 
     
    Arrested: Emile Junie Hunkins of Hermitage Cayon was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of the house breaking and larceny which was committed on December 9th 2016  
     
    Arrested: Valentine Paris of Phillips Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of driving with an expired licence. 
     
    Arrested:  Tamara Lawrence of Needmust Estate was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Receiving. Bailed: Tamara Lawrence was granted bail in the sum of $5000 for her appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 6 February, 2017
     
    COURT CONVICTION:-
    In the matters at the Basseterre HighCourt Presided over by Hon. Justice Trevor M. Ward QC, the following is reported: 
     
    (1) Dwight Patrick Huggins of Central Street who was summoned to be a juror was not present. He was fined three hundred dollars ($300.00) for his absence. 
     
    OTHER ACTIVITY: 
    House Breaking and Larceny: Police is investigating a report of House Breaking and Larceny which occurred at Conaree Village. Inquires revealed that the V/C secured his premises on the 18th December 2016, upon his returned January 16th 2017 he discovered the house broken into and a number of household items missing. 
     
    House Breaking and Larceny: Police is investigating a report of House Breaking and Larceny which occurred at Frigate Bay Development Corporation apartments. During a weekly survey it was discovered some apartments had being broken into and ransacked.  The scene was processed, investigations continue. 
     
    House Breaking and Larceny:  Police is investigating a report of two (2)  incidents of House Breaking and Larceny that occurred at Horizon Villas. Both homes were ransacked and a number of valuable items were stolen. 
     
    Search Warrant Executed: Police executed a number of search warrants over the period of this report. The Warrants were executed in the following areas: Nevis Street (Newtown), Willets Housing Project (St. Paul’s) and Bouryeaux Village. 
     
    Marijuana Plants Uprooted: Officers from District “B” and the  St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force conducted a bush patrol during which they discovered, uprooted and seized, two hundred seedlings and forty three (43) plants ranging from a feet to five feet in high. 
     
    Traffic Accident: There were four (4) accidents on the federation’s roadways in (3) St. Kitts and (1) in Nevis during the period of this report.
     
    Citizen Safety:  Officers from all Police Districts continue to conduct stop and searches, vehicular check points, community walk thru's, searches of abandoned properties and the execution of search warrants. All of these efforts are done to rid our communities of illegal drugs and firearms. 
     
    Community Engagement: Police continue to visit all High Schools, and Primary Schools on St. Kitts and Nevis.  The visits are to engage and encourage students to embrace positive choices, and to ensure a safe school environment.  
     
    - Engagements with community groups, and residents, as well as interaction with High School and Primary School students continue with Dr Neals Chitan.  Dr Chitan is introducing a life skills program "STOP N THINK" to the students and community partners.
