    Roadtown, Tortola - Preparations are underway to celebrate the official birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Saturday, June 13, a public holiday in the Territory.

    The birthday celebration will include a parade of uniformed bodies, youth organisations, schools and service clubs on the Festival Ground in Road Town.

    His Excellency the Governor David Pearey will inspect all units of the parade, following which there will be the march past, the hoisting of the Governor Standard and the Royal Salute given in honour of Her Majesty.

    Fourteen members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force will receive the Police Long Service Medal for 18 years of service, while 10 others will receive the First Clasp for the Police Long Service Medal for 25 years of service.

    Music will be played by the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College Jazz Band and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Band.

    The public is invited to attend the parade, which will begin at 5:00 p.m.  Government is also inviting all those who have been honoured with medals to wear their decorations.
