Following a near six month refusal by the the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Basketball Association to abide by the very constitution and applicable league rules & regulations of which they were elected to uphold, and despite numerous attempts on our part at advancing the matter in hopes of an amicable outcome we were left with no other choice but to seek a temporary remedy in the form of an injunction order at the High Court of Justice on Monday 31st January which prohibits the SKNABA from implementing, enforcing or otherwise bringing into effect the arbitrary decision of an Appeals Committee that was only brought to our organization's attention on 26th January 2017.
By it's very nature, the interim injunction is a separate action within our larger claim, but was essential in preserving the status quo. For a sport that we all enjoy and respect, it is unfortunate that the other party, if unrestrained, would cause irreparable or immeasurable damage by continuing it's conduct which inevitably led to the current dispute. We have secured the services of Talibah Byron of Byron & Byron as our legal representative on this matter.
