Injured tourist rescued from Phillip’s Mountain by Fire and Rescue unit

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A 49-year-old tourist had the misfortune of getting injured while on a tour in the Phillip’s Mountain area on Tuesday (Feb 21).

SKNVibes understands that the woman – Stacey Beck of Colorado – arrived in the Federation aboard a cruise vessel and was part of a group which took the tour.

It is suggested that the woman might have encountered difficulty on the slippery terrain and fell – injuring one of her ankles.

Fire Chief Everette O’Garro said a Rescue Unit had to be dispatched shortly before 2:30p.m. to provide assistance to the injured party.

He said when it arrived, its members immobilized Beck on a backboard/stretcher and carried her down the mountain, at the bottom of which an Emergency Medical Services unit was waiting to transport her to the hospital.

This publication understands that the woman’s ankle was sprained and that she was able to make it back to the cruise vessel before it left the shores of St. Kitts.
