What makes you unique?
There is some ambivalence to my personality which makes me unique. On the one hand I can be reserved and quiet and on the other hand I can be bold and outgoing. That’s me…Cindy! I’m sure some persons are surprised that I’m entering a pageant. However, I’m ready and prepared to give it my best shot. So… yes, my personality does make me stand out.
Where are you from? If you were to use two adjectives that describe your community and which also describe you as a person, what would those adjectives be?
I am a resident of the small, yet popular village of Church Ground, Nevis. When I compare myself to where I’m from I have to say we are both Beautiful and Peace-loving.
To whom would you attribute your success(es) in life thus far?
Most definitely, my mom has to be credited for my successes in life so far. Because of her guidance, assistance, overwhelming support and encouragement, I don’t think I will ever find someone else in this world who will be able to support me as much as my mom has. She is truly the wind beneath my wings and I thank her for that. I’m blessed to have the mom God gave me. Her support has trickled down to my extended family and so my relatives too have been a very supportive unit.
What do you hope to gain by participating in a pageant of this nature?
This pageant will boost my confidence and personality and build my character. Very importantly, being a delegate in The Silver Jubilee Queen Pageant, I hope to be viewed as a true patriot of my twin island federation. It’s every girl’s dream to be a beauty queen so I would hope to gain the respect of and be a great role model to young girls in my country who aspire to participate in pageants for the wonderful benefits.
What does Independence mean to you on a personal level?
To me Independence is a privilege. It gives me a chance to see what I’m really made of and to put into practice all the survival skills that I’ve learnt. It denotes maturity so it allows me to charter my own course and make my own decisions. However if I err, I will simply reassess myself and ensure that I’ve understood the mistakes made for independence fosters that. I love being independent.
What other significant achievements would you like to see in the Federation over the next 25 years?
I must mention that the Federation has achieved a great deal over the past 25 years but there is much more to be attained. Looking ahead, I hope that many more young people will be afforded the opportunity of a college education for our country’s success depends largely on well educated citizens who will in turn contribute to the society. Also, I would like for there to be a greater sense of volunteerism. I wish more people would avail of their free time, energy and skills to assist with sporting activities, after school programmes, and volunteer organizations such as the Pink Lily Foundation for Cancer Awareness. Volunteering can indeed impact on nation building.
