Manslaughter-accused granted bail

    BASETERRE, St. Kitts – KAREEM CHUMNEY – the young man who was charged with the stabbing death of his teenage brother - has been granted bail.

     

    The accused was – earlier this week – charged with the manslaughter of his 15-year-old brother which took place on the evening of Saturday (Mar. 25) in the McKnight area.

     

    Information reaching this publication suggested that there was an altercation between the two, which resulted in the unfortunate incident.

     

    A press release issued by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force today (Mar. 31) informed that Chumney was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 and has been ordered to surrender all travel documents to the Court.

     

    He was also ordered to report to the Basseterre Police Station one per day from Monday through to Saturday, he is to take up residence at Ponds Extension with his grandmother and is to be on curfew between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily.

     

    He is expected to appear before the court on May 8, 2017.
