BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JUNE 11TH 2009 (CUOPM) – The 6th PetroCaribe Summit is expected to bring a public relations bonanza to the twin-island Federation.
 
The Prince of Wales Bastion at the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is the site of a live transmission of the Petro-Caribe Summit.
 
The Ministerial Meeting which started Thursday and the Summit being attended by several Caribbean and Latin American leaders including the Presidents of Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala have attracted several international media outlets from around the world.
 
Accreditation has been given to some 68 representatives from media outlets including radio, television and newspaper.
 
Information from the Accreditation Committee indicates media representatives are covering the Summit from Reuters, Associated Press, Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC), BBC, EFE – Chile; RFO, Guadeloupe (French Media), The Daily Herald (St. Maarten); Telesur (Venezuelan TV); VTV (VenezuelanTV); Cuban Official Press, Bloomberg and Petroleum World.
 
Local media houses accredited include Sun St. Kitts/Nevis; ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC); Kyss FM; SKNVibes; The Labour Spokesman; Kittivisian; The Leewards Times; VON Radio and SKN Link Up.
 
Public Relations and Personnel Manager at the Fortress, Mr. Ingle Rawlins said technical experts from Venezuela have indicated that the Prince of Wales Bastion is the best spot in St. Kitts for a live television transmission to Caracas, the Venezuelan capital.
 
“The Prince of Wales Bastion has been chosen not only for its height but also for its natural geographical location in relation to Venezuela,” said Rawlins, who quoted the experts as saying that: ‘Clear television images will reach Venezuela from the Prince of Wales Bastion.’
 
The Prince of Wales stands majestically at a height of approximately 700ft above sea level.
 
St. Kitts, located in the northern Leeward Islands of the Caribbean, is home to a tropical rainforest, century-old churches and historical sites, a scenic railway, and a UNESCO World Heritage site and the Brimstone Hill Fortress.
 
In addition to beaches and water sports, the island also offers golf, shopping, tennis, a casino and accommodations ranging from plantation inns to larger hotels and resorts.
