BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A two-vehicle collision, which took place along the F. T. Williams Highway yesterday (Apr. 2), reportedly left two men injured, one of whom is a well-known medical practitioner.

The accident occurred sometime before 4:00 p.m. on the eastern stretch of the road and involved motor vehicle P4229, which was driven by Dr. MacMallia Hodge and PA9797, which was driven by Terrance Francis.

Unconfirmed reports reaching SKNVibes indicate that both were travelling in opposite directions when the collision occurred.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged and while, according to reports, Dr. Hodge was able to exit his vehicle without the assistance of the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services, Francis needed the assistance.

Fire Chief Everette O’Garro told SKNVibes that when his unit arrived on the scene, it quickly began the process of extricating Francis from his vehicle.

And after about 40 minutes of work, he was removed, handed over the attending Emergency Medical Services technicians and transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment.

O’Garro said Francis appeared to have injuries to his hands and legs.

Dr. Hodge was also taken to the Hospital by the ambulance attached to the Fire and Rescue Services. The extent of his injuries, is unknown to this publication at this time.

Investigations into the crash are being made by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.
