Driver of vehicle which struck Ashleigh taken into custody, released

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE driver of the vehicle which was involved in a recent incident which claimed the life of man, was taken into police custody and has been subsequently discharged.

     

    It was reported that yesterday (Apr. 7) at about 4:45 a.m., a man popularly known as Ashleigh Brown was struck by a vehicle while was walking from Frigate Bay to Basseterre.

    It is said that he had completed his security guard duties at Leeward Cove and was making his way to Basseterre, en route to his home, when he was struck.

    He died on the scene.

    SKNVibes understands that the vehicle which struck him bears the registration number P8282 and was being driven by Vendol Davis.

    Police sources indicate that it was not a hit-and-run as some have suggested and Davis was reportedly taken into the Police’s custody, subsequent to which, he was released.

    This publication received reliable information indicating that an autopsy would be performed on Charles Ashleigh Brown’s remains on Tuesday (Apr. 11) to determine the cause of death.

    His was the Federation’s third road fatality for 2017, all of which occurred in St. Kitts.
