BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – COPPING the opening two games in the A Division Finials, the Sandy Point PRIDE team heads back to the court this evening (Apr. 11) against the Wolf Pack with the hope of sealing the deal and being named the Division’s Champion.
After a challenging eight-month legal issue with the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Basketball Association (SKNABA), the PRIDE, over the weekend, brushed aside the Wolf Pack 96-78.
Chavez Kayam Beto Belboda top-scored for the PRIDE with 36 points, three assists and four steals, while Tasli Hodge Belboba assisted with 20 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and providing 11 assists.
In a press statement, the PRIDE described their opponents’ play in the second game as “merely marginal for the Division’s No. 2 seed”.
That description comes on the heels of destroying their opponents in the final few minutes of Game 1.
The PRIDE’s Sheeno Jeezydon Liddie led his team’s defence with 19 rebounds 3 assists and 3 steals, gaining support from Secada Cada Garroden with 17 rebounds 4 assists and 4 blocks.
"We wanted to set the tone defensively from the jump and we were able to do that with much success tonight,” coach Rameece Belboda said.
The Wolf Pack unit would be looking to keep the series alive this evening from 7:00 p.m. at the Basketball City.
Should the PRIDE be successful at tonight’s game, it would have secured its first title.
