PM Harris calls for positive thinking during Easter celebrations

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WITH St. Kitts and Nevis joining the rest of the world in celebrating Easter, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris wants the nation to have a positive frame of mind during this period.

The central theme of his message is that tomorrow is better than what we have today, and that was indicative to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“Part of the Easter that we would want people to know, is that tomorrow is better than today. Good Friday was the crucifixion and all that...and then the tomorrows that came subsequent to that certainly became better because the grave had no power over Christ our Lord. So, we can live with hope and we can be inspired that nothing is impossible. So again, my message is one of optimism, hope and confidence and all those positive things.”

Prime Minister Harris, who is said to be a strong believer in the Christian faith, told SKNVibes during an exclusive interview that he wished the nation well for the Easter season and is urging citizens and residents to “go out our way to make it a very fun-loving time”.

He explained that Easter is a time to mark the resurrection and the many messages of hope that “things are still possible and can happen”.

“So, if people can have a positive frame of mind, they can create a positive environment for themselves, for their neighbours and for the rest of the community. So I want Easter Monday to be marked by a high level of positive messages and positive things being done in celebration.”

His Deputy, the Hon. Shawn Richards, also gave similar sentiments, telling SKNVibes that Easter is that time of the year when people acknowledge and celebrate the resurrection “so that we may have life and have it more abundantly”.

This, the Deputy Prime Minister noted, should be applied in life generally.

“I think that is something persons need to take more seriously and use it as a direction in their own life that the ultimate sacrifice that was made.”

Richards urged persons to enjoy themselves if they decide to go out and party, but be responsible in decisions they intend to make.

PM Harris is also calling on the nation to have a peaceful and incident-free Easter.

Christian communities around the world believe that during this period their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ died and rose on the third day and ascended into Heaven.
