SCASPA Awards Read-a-Thon Winners

By: SCASPA, Press Release

Bird Rock, Basseterre, St. Kitts (Tuesday 25th April 2017) - The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) continues to be committed to the development and fostering of youth in St. Kitts as the Authority partnered with the Public Library in awarding participants in the 20th Annual Charles A. Halbert Public Library Read-a-Thon.

On Friday 21st April 2017, A SCASPA representative was able to capture the smiles and joy of some of St. Kitts’ youngest avid readers at this year’s event captioned “Open a book: Find a Treasure”, the annual Easter Vacation activity which attracted some forty-one (41) students from varying schools around the island ranging from ages 7-12 years.

As part of the awards, SCASPA facilitated, through monetary sponsorship, the distribution of certificates and backpacks filled with school essentials to the participants.

This donation towards the annual read-a-thon falls in line with SCASPA’s continued mandate to invest in education and youth development throughout St. Kitts. This pursuit continues with SCASPA’s next auspicious education event in May, the Best in Class High School Quiz Competition, where the public high schools will battle for academic supremacy.

Throughout the calendar year, the Authority continues to be committed to its education and youth mantra through yet another program dubbed SCASPA’s Primary Schools Adoption Program, where eighteen (18) primary schools across the island are assigned a SCASPA Mentor and monetary allocations are made to assist the schools with their basic needs.

As summer slowly approaches SCASPA, as is customary, opens its doors to Summer Interns in its Summer Internship Program to facilitate the transitioning of CFB college graduates into the world of work.
