Teams ready to battle in Final Four Competition

By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TEAMS that have qualified for the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association’s (SKNFA) Final Four playoffs are ready to rumble in their quest to win the coveted trophy, beginning this evening.

The round robin competition which features the top four teams at the end of the season, kicks off at Warner Park from 6:00 p.m. and will feature FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets, S.L. Horsford’s St. Paul’s, RAMS Village Superstar and H.E. Garden Hotspurs.

All the teams have expressed confidence in winning the title during a press conference today (May 24) held at Football House.

Team Coaches noted that their players are fit and ready to go, except those from the Superstars. That unit is coming off from a victory over the weekend in the FA Cup – when they defeated Winners Circle Newtown United 1-nil.

Head Coach Jeffrey Hazel declared that he would have liked to have an additional week to rest and prepare for the Championship round, but the team’s success did not allow that to happen.

Meanwhile, Executives of the SKNFA have expressed their pleasure at the way the 2016/2017 season was played.

Throughout the season, the body saw an increased gate attendance, which they noted speaks volumes of the Association spreading the game throughout St. Kitts and Nevis.

Further, it was stated that the level of play on the field was very high as the battle for the final spot in the playoffs was not decided upon until the final round of matches – that was also highlighted in the regulation battle.

In congratulating the teams, President of the SKNFA, Anthony Johnson said it is indeed a great achievement to have qualified for this leg of the season.

“That is what all the teams in the premier league play for, initially to get to the Final Four. If they would have gotten here, the real war, so to speak, really begins.”

Meanwhile, Jacobs urged the public to turn out in their numbers and to adhere to all the security protocols in place for the game.

Tonight’s action is a double header where Cayon will battle against Garden Hotspurs from 6:00 p.m., and this will be followed by St. Paul’s taking on RAMS Village Superstars (not before 8:00 p.m.).

Patrons are asked to pay $20 for grounds and $30 for the stadium, and they are being urged to turn up early.
