BASSETRRE, St. Kitts - DEFENDING CHAMPIONS FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets have placed themselves in pole position to qualify for the Finals of the playoff when they edged H. E. Garden Hotspurs 1-nil at Warner Park last evening (May 24).
A 48th minute strike by Vinceroy Nelson proved to be the difference between the two teams as they played before a fair-sized crowd in the first of a doubleheader.
The victory place them top of the round robin leg of the playoffs, tying with S. L. Horsford’s St. Paul’s which scraped past RAM’S Village Superstars 1-0 at the same venue.
In the early exchanges of the game (2nd minute), Joash Leader struck as his team fought hard to maintain their goal advantage.
But that strike had proven hard to overcome for the FA Cup Champs, who will now head back to the drawing board ahead of their next encounter on Saturday (My 27) when they will take on Garden Hotspurs.
Both teams will be looking for full points in the second of a doubleheader encounter, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
That game will be preceded by a top of the table clash between Cayon and St. Paul’s, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The winner of that encounter will qualify for the finals, while the loser of the Spurs and Superstars match-up will be out of the running for a Championship spot.
