BASSETERRE, St. Kitts –  DESPITE a positive and attacking start by the Hobson Enterprises Garden Hotspurs, Flow 4G Cayon Rocket walked away victorious last evening (Jun. 14) after winning game two 1-nil in the best-of-three SKNFA Playoff Championship.

Viewed by a capacity crowd at Warner Park, Spurs started quickly, putting their opponents under pressure with precision long-range passes.

They caught Cayon napping on several occasions and created several goal scoring opportunities but could not find their way pass the goalkeeper.

But a 40th minute strike from Carlos Bertie sealed the deal for the defending champions.

That goal sent Cayon fans into frenzy, as their team wrapped up their second title in as many years.

After the loss, Spurs coach Al Richards told reporters that he thought his team had the better of the game but “as usual, goals count and we failed to score”.

Cayon FC coach, George Isaac explained that they did nothing different from their previous win, adding that they stuck with their game plan and they came out victorious.

“As I said, the pressure would have come back from the first game to the second game; wherever Spurs left off they would have come back with it. I told our players that we would have had to stay focus and ensure that they ain’t score no goals, and ensure that we get our one.”

Speaking about his team’s performance during the playoff run, Richards said: “I would say that the guys worked hard, we had a good playoff and it is just that we dropped short in scoring goals.”

He indicated that they did not score any goals in the Finals.

They are hoping to go a bit further in the 2017/2018 season while replicating the form that took them to a number of the knockout competitions this year.

SKNFA President, Anthony Johnson gave “kudos” to the Cayon players for their performance during the Championship run.

“Congratulations to 4G Flow Cayon Rockets for defending their championships successfully. It is not easy to defend a championship as all the pressure is on you.”

He opined that the level of competition during the Finals was pretty good, while pointing out that there is always room for improvements “but on the whole, I think the players came out and gave it their all”.

Cayon’s goalkeeper was adjudged MVP for the Championship.
