The Cabinet of Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris extended condolences to the family of Mr. Archibald. Mr. Archibald will be accorded an official funeral on Friday June 30, 2017, at the Zion Moravian Church at 2:00pm.

.)  The Honourable Prime Minister led a review of the previous weekend’s National Security briefing that was held between members of Cabinet, the Police High Command, the leadership of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force, Customs, Coast Guard, Prisons and Fire Services. This meeting was an opportunity to address in greater detail a number of strategies being employed to tackle the problem of crime in the Federation, allocation of resources, and the imminent implementation of new projects and programmes aimed at maximizing public safety and security, while effecting crime interdiction.

.)  Cabinet approved a number of submissions, including the approval of marriage officers’ applications.

.)  Attorney General, the Honourable Vincent Byron led the Cabinet through a review of the Bills being tabled for 2nd Reading and debate at the sitting of Parliament set for Wednesday, June 28, 2017.  Among these Bills were the Eastern Caribbean Partial Credit Guarantee (Corporation) Agreement Bill; the Bail (Amendment) Bill and the Accreditation Bill.

.)  A number of South-East Peninsula project requests were discussed by Cabinet with reference to eligibility for the Citizenship by Investment Programme.

.)  Cabinet considered ratification and accession requirements for the Federation regarding some international agreements on fishing and marine matters, mindful of the potential impact on our maritime obligations, the livelihoods of local fishers, and the imperative for safeguarding our marine environment.

.)  The Cabinet meeting adjourned earlier than usual in order to facilitate Cabinet members’ attendance of the funeral for Leanna Napoleon, the Basseterre High School student who was found dead after she had been missing for six weeks. Cabinet once again extended condolences to the family, friends and classmates of the deceased young woman at this time of great loss and grief.
