Police Press Release 03-07-2017: Report of arrests, convictions and other activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 03, 2017(RSCNPF): Below is a report of Arrests, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period June 26th – 2nd July 2017.

     

    Arrested: Stanford Williams of Sandy Point was arrested, formally charged and for the offences of House Breaking Implements and Unlawful Possession. Offence committed on Sunday 25th June 2017. 
     
    Arrested: Rajiv Davis of St. Paul’s Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of simple wounding.  
     
    Arrested: Michael Prendergast of Frigate Bay was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Refusing to provide a specimen of Blood for laboratory test, driving without due care and attention, driving under the influence of drink and driving without insurance. Offence committed on Wednesday 28th June 2017. 
     
    Arrested/Bailed: Triven Rogers of Conaree was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Unlawful Possession. Offence committed on Sunday 25th June 2017. He was granted bail in the sum of of $5000, 00 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 14th August, 2017.  Bail was granted on the condition: observe a curfew at the residence at Upper Monkey Hill from 7:00 pm and 6:00 am, to report to the Stapleton Police Station everyday anytime between 6am and 6pm. 
     
    Arrested: Carol Raa of Mattingley Heights was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Refusing to provide a specimen of Blood for laboratory test, Driving without due care and attention and Driving under the influence of drink. She was granted bail in the sum of $15000.00 for her appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on the Thursday 29th June 2017.  
     
    Bailed: Glenville Phillip of Bath Village who was charged for the offence of Possession of Cannabis was granted bailed in the sum of Three thousand dollars ($3000.00) in his own recognizance for his appearance at the Charlestown Magistrate Court on Tuesday 04th June, 2017. 
     
    Bailed: Deslia Desouza of lower Thibou Ave who was arrested and charged for the offence of receiving committed between June 6th –19th  .He was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for her appearance at the magistrate court on Thursday 13th July 2017. 
     
    Bailed: Richy Liburd of Conaree who was arrested for Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply, He was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 14th August 2017.
     
    Bailed: Kishorne Edwards of Cayon Village who was arrested for the offence of Possession of Cannabis committed on the Thursday 27th June 2017 was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court A on the Monday 14th  August 2017. 
     
    Bailed: Aliston Morton and Ashley Hanley of Cayon who were arrested for the offence of Possession of Cannabis committed on Thursday 27th June 2017 were granted bail in the sum of $5,000 for their appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on the Monday 14th August 2017. 
     
    COURT CONVICTIONS: 
    In Matters at the Charlestown Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour Miss Yasmine Clarke and reported the following Convictions:

    - Geraldin Rosario of Bath Village was convicted and sentenced to six (6) months in prison for the offence of Wounding. 

    -Addison Powell of Stoney Grove was found guilty and fined for the following offences. for Malicious damage, fined $600.00 to be paid in three (3) months or if in default serve one (1) month in prison.  For the offence of Battery,  fined $500.00 to be paid in one (1) month or in default serve one (1) month in prison.  
     
    OTHER ACTIVITY:
    House Breaking and Larceny: Police responded to two (2) reports of House Breaking and Larceny that occurred in the following areas Prospect & Brown Hill both areas in Nevis. 
     
    Abandoned Properties: Police continues to execute searches of abandoned properties; most recent searches were done in following areas: Conaree, St Johnston Village, Green Lands, Salt Pond Alley, George Street, Ponds Extension and Farm’s Meadow (Sandy Point) . There were also searches done on (3) abandoned buildings in the Bath Village and Low Street area. All  were searched for Controlled Drugs, Arms, Ammunition and Stolen Goods.
     
    Search Warrants Executed: Police executed a number of search warrants during the period of this report. Warrants were executed on properties in the following areas: St. Pauls, Phillips, Bath Village & Low Street (Nevis), Mansion, Lower Thibou Ave (Basseterre), Lower Fiennes Ave, Upper Cayon, Ottleys and Keys Project.     
     
    Marijuana Plants Uprooted: A combined patrol of men of the Anti- Narcotics Unit and members of SKNDF reported that over the 6 days period of this report they discovered, uprooted and seized a total of, Five hundred and Twelve (512) marijuana plants in the various locations. The areas were: Lower Cayon, Kittitian Hill, St. Paul’s and Phillips. 
     
    Traffic Accidents: There were a number of accidents on the federation’s roadways in St. Kitts during the period of this report. One accident recorded a fatality. 
     
    Citizen Safety: Police continue to conduct Vehicle Check Points and Stop and Searches along the island main road on St. Kitts and Nevis.

    Officers continue to conduct searches of abandoned properties and lots. The execution of search warrants continue as well. These activities are being conducted in support of anti-crime objectives to remove illegal firearms and ammunition, illegal drugs and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes from our communities.
