Three in custody for illegal firearm in Nevis

    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THREE persons are in police custody on Nevis following the discovery of an illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition in Rawlins Village.

     

    According to a police communiqué, while executing a search warrant in the Rawlins Village area for illegal firearms, ammunition and controlled drugs early Saturday morning (Jul. 8), officers of the Nevis Division and the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force had discovered one 9mm pistol, eight rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana on a certain premises.

    Police had detained three adults and two juveniles who were on the premises, but only the adults were taken into custody.

    Continuing their search in that village, the officers also discovered and uprooted a number of marijuana plants on a plot of land.

    The discovery has taken to 27 the number of illegal firearms taken off the Federation’s streets; five on Nevis and 22 on St. Kitts.

    The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force continues to appeal to citizens and residents to go forward and share any information they might have with regards to crime and criminal activity.
