BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SLEUTHS of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have made a breakthrough in their investigation of a May 17, 2017 shooting incident in which a bullet had grazed the head of a juvenile.

Yesterday (Jul. 10), the police had charged Raheem Freeman for the offence. He was charged with attempted murder.

SKNVibes had received information which stated that while a juvenile was sitting on his verandah in Rawlins Housing, St. Paul’s Village some time around 10:00 p.m. on the day in question, he was approached by an unknown gunman who fired a single shot in his direction before running from the scene.

The bullet had reportedly grazed the juvenile's head and he was transported by a unit of the Emergency Medical Services for treatment at the JNF General Hospital.

Additional information received by this publication at that time had stated that while members of the Violent Crimes Unit were investigating the incident, they responded to a report that a shooting victim was at the Pogson Hospital in Sandy Point.

A police communiqué had informed that initial investigations revealed that the victim claimed while walking in the vicinity of a shop in St. Paul’s Village, he was attacked by two masked assailants and was shot to his shoulder and right side.

SKNVibes later learnt that the victim was Raheem Freeman and that he, too, was transported to the JNF General Hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Head of the Crime Directorate, Assistant Commissioner of Police Andre Mitchell commended all of the officers who were assigned to this case.

“I want to commend the investigators and technicians working on this case. They looked at the information before them and through good interviews and forensic analysis and going back to their training they were able to bring this charge.”
