BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A mid-morning shooting at Lime Kiln Project has left one young man critically wounded and community members concerned about their safety.
At approximately 10:45 this morning, SKNVibes received reports that a shooting incident had occurred in the Lime Kiln area in the vicinity of the Grand Masters’ Band House. On arrival at the scene, this media house met a cordoned area controlled by members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force conducting investigations.
SKNVibes spoke with one of the senior police officers who indicated that when they had arrived on the scene they did not meet a wounded man there. He also said he had no information to offer at that time.
This media house was told that a young man was shot multiple times to the body while walking northwards along a stretch of road in the company of another person.
However, a police press release, informed that investigations revealed that 20-year-old Shavaughn Hendricks of Lime Kiln Project and another person was walking towards Lime Kiln Playfield when an armed man approached from the opposite direction and opened fire on them.
“Hendricks was shot multiple times in the abdomen, hand and side, before the gunman made his escape. He was taken to the JNF Hospital by police transport, where he underwent surgery and is currently warded in critical but stable condition. Three persons are in custody assisting with the investigation,” the release read.
SKNVibes later learned that Hendricks, also known as ‘Eldorado’, was shot in the left chest, right chest, abdomen and left arm.
