St. Kitts Music Festival Committee hosts warm-up at The Circus

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH the show just five days away, the St. Kitts Music Festival Committee is busy organising as many promotions as they can to keep the people geared up for the annual event.

A promotion was held yesterday (June 19) at The Circus in downtown Basseterre and it featured a number of giveaways and appearances.

Some of the giveaways included one person receiving a round-trip flight to any American Airline destination, one-night stay at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel, Music Festival tickets, dinners at the Beach House Restaurant, movie tickets, meet and greet with three Music Festival artistes and tickets for movies at Caribbean Cinemas.

Individuals won these opportunities through a special text promotion that was executed by Platinum Sponsors of the Festival Landline, Internet, Mobile and Entertainment, (LIME), where some winners were presented double bubble cards.

The promotion began at about 5:00 p.m. and was hosted by former junior calypso king, Monarch, who kept the attendees entertained.

According to Lester Ible, a member of the Marketing Committee, yesterday’s promotion was one of several that the committee has been organising leading up to the 13th Annual Festival.

He said that already they have held two promotions at the Independence Square and one in Nevis, and strongly believes that people would turn out to the festival in great numbers despite the economic downturn.

“I think that the people will still come out as they would need a stress reliever,” he said.Up until June 20, Music Festival tickets were being sold at a discounted price of EC$120.

The festival’s promotion also featured models of Prestige Model Agency who showcased designs from local fashion houses Island Hopper, Brown Sugar and Island Girl.

The models, who came from sister isle Nevis, also donned Music Festival T-shirts.

The large gathering was also entertained by deejays, Tombstone International and the Lights Out Band. The festival will be held from June 24-26 at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium and will have the Thursday night’s show featuring Lord Nelson, Edwin Yearwood, King Konris, Biggie Irie, Iwer George, Blade & Byke, Lejah Band and Mavado.

On the Friday night, Ziggy Rankin, Beres Hammond, Burning Spear, Dagah, Odisi Band and Stephen Marley will perform on stage, while the following night (Saturday) will feature Hans & The Hillbillies, KC5, Shakki, Regina Belle, T-Pain and KC & The Sunshine Band.
