CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE Nevis Housing and Land Development Corporation (NHLDC) has taken another step towards making land ownership a reality to all Nevisians.
These were the words of Deputy Chairman Patrice Nisbett on the occasion of the official launch of the company’s website at the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) conference room in Charlestown on Friday, June 19.
Nisbett, who is also Legal Advisor to the NIA, said land ownership is the ultimate dream of everyone and now homeownership has become equated with that dream. He said it is the ultimate dream because it gives roots and secures the future and that of families for generations.
“Landownership is symbolic of our success and achievement and a testament to our hard work.”
According to Nisbett, the NIA, through the Corporation, has always been committed to ensuring all Nevisians realise this dream. He said the NIA has always made it a priority in deliberations to ensure that the process and goal of achieving landownership is simple to understand as well as accessible and equitable to all Nevisians.
Nisbett said the website is part of the NIA’s enhanced process of procuring property and revamping the operation of the corporation so as to ensure that all Nevisians – regardless of political affiliations – could access the services of the Corporation.
The Deputy Chairman said the website, located at www.nhldc.com, goes beyond adding new technology to the Corporation.
“It would serve to streamline the Corporation and to make it work for the people. All questions would be answered by going to the website.”
The site would ensure employees have more time to work on claims instead of being occupied on the phone lines answering questions which will now be answered online.
The website would also bring more business to the corporation which will now be widely known.
The launching is part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the NHLDC and was also attended by Chairman of the Corporation and Minister of Agriculture the Hon. Robelto Hector; General Manager of NHLDC Eustace Nisbett; and representatives of E-Caribbean, designers of the site.
