Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 24, 2017 (SKNIS): The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Windsor University School of Medicine and Dr. Cameron Wilkinson, Medical Chief of Staff at Joseph Nathaniel France (JNF) General Hospital in Basseterre, raised over one hundred thousand EC dollars to purchase a new ambulance for the JNF Hospital.

A fundraiser, “The Circle of Life” concert, held on July 22, 2017, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort highlighted key sponsors in the overall donation of the ambulance. Dr. Cameron Wilkinson, facilitator of the concert, in his opening remarks, made note of prominent sponsors that were able to make it possible for the purchase of the ambulance.

In attendance to support the fundraiser were the Honourable Eugene Hamilton, Minister of Health and the Honourable Senator Wendy Phipps, Minister of State with responsibility for Health.

"We thank our sponsors who have contributed financially," said Dr. Wilkinson, as he made mention of a number of donors, including St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank, Bank of Nova Scotia National Caribbean Insurance, Nagico Insurance, Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, First Caribbean International Bank St. Kitts-Nevis Island Homes, St. Kitts Marriott Resort, St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association, Island Bakeries, University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS) Christophe Harbour, FLOW and TDC. He also thanked Windsor University School of Medicine students, who were instrumental in making the fundraising concert possible.

"My plan this year was to raise 100,000 dollars to purchase an ambulance. I am happy to announce that as of now, we have raised 154,000 dollars,” Dr. Wilkinson, while singling out Christophe Harbor and FLOW as two major sponsors. He said that this year 104,000 dollars more were raised than last year.

"These are two companies that went beyond the call of duty," Dr. Wilkinson said, as he revealed that Christophe Harbour donated US $20,000 and FLOW donated EC $20,000.

Money raised from “The Circle of Life” concert will provide additional funds that will go towards to purchase of the ambulance. The major sponsors will have their emblems engraved on the ambulance when it is received.
