Minister of Tourism, The Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant, noted that summer is a slow period for cruising in the Caribbean, however St. Kitts has become a very special port of call for various cruise lines.
“Cruise line executives are confident that St. Kitts delivers a great experience through our unique attractions, diversity of our tours, culture and heritage. As a result our cruise business is growing,” Minister Grant said. “However, we remain mindful that we are competing in a global market, and success is measured by visitor expenditure on island and satisfaction level by visitors. So, we WILL continue not to only meet, but EXCEED the expectations of our guests.”
Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class Ships, Harmony of the Seas and Allure of the Seas—some of the largest cruise ships in the world – will continue to dock at Port Zante during the summer. In addition, Carnival Cruise line has three ships: Carnival Fascination, Carnival Splendor and Carnival Magic that are making weekly and sometimes bi-weekly calls to the island.
For the month of August, the St. Kitts Tourism Authority has a projected cruise passenger visits of more than 42,200.
Also, to ensure the continued growth of cruise business the St. Kitts Tourism Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism have implemented crucial customer service workshops for frontline employees of the tourism industry.
The aim of the workshops is to enhance the tourism product by offering exceptional customer service, with the ultimate goal to bring more visitors to the destination.
