Music Festival almost here…Are you going?

Stephen Marley

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH only two days away from the 13th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival, SKNVibes went out on the streets of downtown Basseterre to find out from some people if they will be attending any of the three-night festivity.

The festival kicks off on Thursday, June 25, concludes on Saturday 27 and will see performances from Nu Vybes International Band, Grand Masters Band, King Konris, Lord Nelson, Lejah B and also Blade and Byke, Biggie Irie, Edwin Yearwood, Iwer George and Mavado on the opening night.

On the following night, patrons will be entertained by the Odisi Band, Ziggy Rankin, Beres Hammond, Stephen Marley and Burning Spear, while the curtains will come down on the Saturday night with Hans and The Hillbillies, KC5, Shaki Regina Belle, T-Pain, and KC & the Sunshine Band.

According to a young lady by the name of Tishell, she would be going on Thursday night because she wants to see the ‘gully god’ Mavada and might perhaps go again on Friday.

Twenty-six-year-old Kesha said she would love to go at least one night, but cannot afford it.

Nigel, on the other hand, said he is not interested in any night of the festival and he would not be going.

Thirty-plus-year-old Andrew said, “I am not going because the lineup is horrible and I have seen most of the artistes before for way cheaper.”

Twenty-one-year-old Camar thinks the festival lineup is for older people and it only has two good artistes for the youth. He said he too would not be going.

Kishma was all smiles when SKNVibes asked her about the festival, and she said delightedly, “I am going on Friday night because I love Mr. Beres Hammond.”

DJ Jai said he thinks he would be going on Thursday night only because he wants to see Mavado.

Skef, on the other hand, said he would be there on all of the nights. “It’s more of a lime for me than the lineup, although I really want to see Beres Hammond on the Friday night.”

The festival kicks off each night at 8:00 p.m. at the Warner Park Stadium with a nightly fee of EC$135 or US$50.
