Kim Collins elected to IAAF Athletes Commission

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOLLOWING his announcement earlier this year that he would like to retire from competitive athletics after the 2017 IAAF World Championships, Kim Collins has now entered the field of athletics administration.

     

    The iconic sprinter, who has put the Federation on the athletic world map, was recently elected to the IAAF Athletes Commission.

    According to a report published by the IAAF – the governing body for the sport - Collins was the top delegate elected.

    Statistics released shows that Collins received the most votes. He copped 798 out of a possible 1,192 votes that were cast, 10 of which were spoilt.

    Also elected to the Commission are Germany’s Thomas Rohler with 691 votes, Ivana Spanovic of Serbia 645, Benita Willis of Australia 564, Adam Kszczot of Poland 529 and Canada’s Inaki Gomes with 515 votes.

    The athletes will each serve a four-year term commencing on the January 1, 2018 and will conclude on December 31, 2021.

    The IAAF World Championships wrapped up last evening with the United States topping the medal table.
