CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – REPORTS reaching SKNVibes indicate that Benjamin Joseph, the businessman who was shot in the vicinity of his Pinney’s Road residence on Saturday (Aug. 19) evening, had succumbed to his injuries at the Alexandra Hospital.
His death was confirmed this morning (Aug. 21) by Deputy Commissioner of Police Hilroy Brandy.
Benjamin, who owned Philisha’s Guest House on Pinney’s Road, Nevis, was reportedly shot shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Saturday by an unknown assailant or assailants while exiting his car on arrival at his Pinney’s Road residence.
This publication understands that a number of shots were fired in his direction and he was struck while seeking cover at the nearby residence of a family member.
Reports also stated that a daughter of the 63-year-old businessman had transported him to the Alexandra Hospital.
So far, no one has been held responsible for Joseph’s shooting-death, but police had indicated that investigations are ongoing by members of the Violent Crimes Unit.
Benjamin Joseph’s death has taken to 18 the number of homicides committed in the Federation for this year; seven on Nevis and 11 on St. Kitts.
