    Basseterre, St. Kitts (October 31, 2005): Shop operators and craft vendors got an opportunity to hone important skills as they do their part to help the Federation to "welcome the world."
    The service excellence seminar, which targeted the two groups, aimed at introducing participants to strategies that would endear tourists to them and by extension to the Federation.
     
    The seminar was jointly coordinated by the Ministry of Tourism and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce as part of the observance of Tourism Week.
     
    Explaining that the Chamber of Industry and Commerce is moving toward enhancing the tourism product, President Mr. Anthony Abourizk invited those he referred to as Industry frontliners to take seriously the opportunity to make a good first impression on tourists.

    Course Facilitator, Dr. Barrington Browne explained that he would have participants actively participate in the workshop by giving them the opportunity to examine the ways in which body language and speech impact communication.

    Cue Out:          & and have your peers evaluate you also."
     
    Hon Sen. Richard Skerritt, Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism highlighted the fact that customer service calls for alertness and creativity on the part of the vendor .
     
    Cue In:          "Quality does not mean anything else but &
    Cue Out:          & so much the better for it."
     
    The Minister of State explained the need for an improvement in customer service, explaining its possible impact on the Federation.
     
    Cue In:          "But that improvement starts with &
    Cue Out:          & so much the better for it."
     
    The celebration of Tourism Week continues until Sunday November 6th , under the theme, "preparing to welcome the world.".
