By: Sharlene Martin, SKNVibes
CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – OMARI RILEY, also called Ants, of Market Street, St. Kitts and Craddock Road, Charlestown in Nevis, was yesterday (June 23) sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Riley, who appeared before Magistrate Yasmine Clarke in the Charlestown Magistrate’s Court, was sentenced to six years on each charge. The sentences will however run concurrently.

Riley was arrested and taken into police custody on June 18 after he was found in possession of a .38 firearm and five matching rounds of ammunition at the Charlestown Pier.

Earlier this year, Riley appeared before the same magistrate to answer charges of throwing missiles at the Charlestown Pier. He was spared a one-year sentence but fined $1 000 to be paid forthwith or spend six months in prison.
