Tamerelle Browne – Contestant for Miss Culture Queen Pageant

Tamerelle Browne
By: Nevis Bureau, SKNVibes
CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE Miss Culture Queen Pageant of Culturama 35 was launched on Friday, June 5 and the six beautiful contestants, dubbed “The Sensational Six”, are all gearing up for the two-night competition scheduled for July 26 and August 2.

In an effort to sensitise the reading public on the qualities of the bevy of beauties, SKNVibes has decided to publish their profiles, and the first of them is the 17-year-old Island Tyre & Hardware-sponsored Tamerelle Browne.

    Zodiac Sign:  Scorpio

    Height:  5’1

    Vital Statistics:  32, 27.5, 37

Favourite Food: As a youth growing up, I have always enjoyed steamed fish and banana with any scrumptious side dish. They both build an immediate natural source of energy and allow my body to work in a more firm and controllably way.

    Favourite Drink: Chilled lemonade.

Favourite Quote(s):  “I am willing to bear the burden to get what only hard work will achieve; and to accomplish anything, one must never give up in the face of obstacles or failures. Every great achievement was once considered impossible. Never consider the possibility of failure, for as long as you persist you will be successful.”

Favourite TV Show (Movie):  This would have to be “The Pursuit of Happyness”. I was intrigued by Will Smith’s Character. He knew exactly what he wanted in life and he endured many hardships and managed to come out on top.

Favourite Music:  I enjoy listening to all genres of music but one particular song that stands out most to me is “Little Things” by India Arie. This song is very inspirational as it speaks of how simple things in life can make us feel content.

Goals:  I am somewhat intrigued by the importance, interactive capabilities, power and uses of becoming a Sales and Marketing Consultant as I am fond of hard work and challenges. This will also help develop the opportunity of offering marketing advice to people by sharing my expertise with others and teaching them to market their products effectively.

In my spare time I like to:  My youthful energy is channeled into personal, yet diverse activities such as developing and exercising my mental creativity, reading, fueling my passion for music from all eras and genre, and sometimes just simply relaxing in my room enjoying the silence.

Who is your role model?  One person who has had the most influence in my life other than my parents I would say is Mrs. Mariney Newton. As a fellow Gingerlander, I view her as a role model from our first encounter at the Gingerland Methodist Church. She always offered an encouraging word, promoted togetherness and was always a great source of inspiration for me. I view her as a selfless individual who is always ready and willing to give back to her community. In fact, she holds a special place in the hearts of many youths, due to the dedication and goodwill afforded through her personal time and effort to foster a good environment for youths in Gingerland.

Famous person I would like to meet: I must say (dead and alive). Firstly, the famous Barack Obama. As the President of the United States of America I think he is the epitome of what a true leader is. He also has an unsurpassed genuine nature about him. I think he is a highly driven, self-motivated intellectual individual and is indeed a true role model. Also, I would have loved to have the opportunity to meet Mr. Calvin ‘Cabo’ Howell, as it is through his initiative our unique cultural festival Culturama came to being. I would have personally loved to congratulate and thank him for paving the way for the preservation of our art form and cultural heritage, things which he was very much a part of until his death.

Why did you enter this pageant?  I view the pageant as an avenue for talented, beautiful young Nevisians ladies, like myself, to appreciate and display the interpretations of our cultural heritage. It also promotes confidence and builds self esteem, and these two assets are fundamentals in becoming successful in life.

Why do you think you should be chosen as Miss Culture 2009? Should I capture the esteemed title of Miss Culture 2009, I would seek to work closely with the Cultural Foundation in providing my ideas to making the festival grander as well as be a driving force for promoting the Miss Culture Queen Pageant so as to evoke interest in Nevisian young ladies to participate.

Secondly, the youths of today are faced with many challenges. These challenges stem from both positive and negative forces within our community. Being chosen as Miss Culture 2009, it is my intention to inspire and create a desire within young people…a drive to pursue and succeed in making Nevis a land of people smiling and nice and gay and peaceful too.  It will also be my goal to help promote Nevis and CULTURAMA in any way possible.
