    2017 Principal Award Winners

August 28th, 2017 -- On the heel of its Annual Awards Gala, SPBS is proud to celebrate its Principal Award Winners. Just last week, SPBS released the names of the FIVE College Scholarship Award Winners (http://www.sknvibes.com/news/newsdetails.cfm/102292). And now it reflects on scholarships focused on CEMSS. We will celebrate the 2017 incoming freshmen class (see attached) of Principal Award Winners and the 2012 graduating class of Principal Award Winners.

Five years ago the Sandy Point Benevolent Society (SPBS) made a landmark decision as it relates to its Principals Award Programme. That decision was to expand the programme to the St. Paul’s Primary School and the Newton Ground Primary School. That decision brought to three, the number of primary Schools participating in its Principals Award Programme. The SPBS Principal’s Award initiated in 1997 consists of US $300.00 cash award and a plaque presented to the Valedictorians graduated from each Primary School that feeds into the Charles E.Mills Secondary School.

The three valedictorians who graduated from their respective Primary Schools in 2012 will become the first trio, (in any one year) to receive the SPBS Awards for outstanding CXC results given to past Principal’s Award winners.

Each of these Principal Award winners/high School graduates will receive a US$400.00 cash prize and a plaque, on the occasion of the Charles E Mills Secondary School’s Annual Speech Day. Gariel Bowry, the 2012 Principal Awards winner from the Sandy Point Primary School wrote a total of 12 subjects and returned passes in all twelve (12) earning  distinctions in five (5)  subject areas.

Janesha Hyliger, the 2012 Principal Award Winner from the Newton Ground Primary School returned eleven (11) subject passes out of twelve (12) with two (2) distinctions.

The Principals Award winner from the St. Pauls Primary School in 2012, Arljanquine Ward, sat eleven (11) CESEC Subjects.  She passed all eleven (11) and earned seven distinctions.

SPBS is proud of the achievement of the Principal Award Winners. The organization wishes them well and renews its pledge to support their educational endeavours.
