BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER, 3RD 2005 " One of St. Kitts" popular taxi drivers has been recognised by a leading cruise ship company.
Sandy Point-born Elvis Mills, better known as "Dr. Elvis" of Dr. Elvis Tour/Taxi Service, was recognised by Princess Cruises Manager of Shore Operations, Mr. Graham Davis.
"Many of our tour passengers have specifically mentioned your name as providing personalised quality service while you were their tour guide on one of our Adventures Ashore Tours. As emphasised in our C.R.U.I.S.E. Programme, the "Moment of Truth" is the instant when a Princess passenger comes in contact with you and forms a first impression," said Davis in a personal letter to "Dr. Elvis," a full time taxi operator since 1993.
The Princess Cruises official said this first impression is typically a lasting one and therefore, this "Moment of Truth" will have great impact on that passenger's overall satisfaction of the cruise and tour experience.
"As a token of our appreciation, please accept the enclosed 2004 C.R.U.I.S.E. Service Excellence Recognition Pin and wear it with pride in the future," wrote the Princess Cruises official.
"Dr. Elvis", who was presented with the pin and a bottle of wine by KANTOURS Quality Control Officer, Pearlina Sharry on Wednesday morning, expressed happiness about the recognition.
"Of course I feel very proud. It is for me not only a personal achievement, but also a recognition that the tourism industry in St. Kitts is moving in the right direction. It is an indication that we as taxi drivers can deliver a product of quality service to our passengers who come to our shores," said "Dr. Elvis" in an interview with the Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister.
St. Kitts is presently observing "Tourism Week."
