BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER two months of diligent investigations by sleuths of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, two men were finally arrested and charged with the murder of Kishorne Edwards.

The two men charged are Jerod ‘J Bay’ Stapleton of Lodge Village and Ellister ‘Rambo’ Thomas of Lodge.

Shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, police had received a report about gunshots being fired in the Ottley’s Village area.

On arrival at the scene, which was in the vicinity of the Water Tank, the officers had found the 26-year-old Edwards slumped behind the wheel of a black BMW he was driving.

Reportedly, the upper parts of his body were riddled with bullets and the vehicle, which was facing the direction of Cayon, bore the strikes of dozens of bullets, while police markers at the scene indicated that more than 48 spent shells were found.

He was pronounced dead on the scene by a District Medical Officer.

Initial investigations conducted by the Violent Crimes Unit revealed that Edwards was killed by an unknown assailant or assailants.

Edwards, who hailed from Ramsbury, Nevis but was residing at Upper Cayon at the time of his demise, was the 17th homicide victim recorded in the Federation for this year.

According to a police communiqué issued this afternoon (Sept. 4), “Their arrest followed a long and tedious investigation, with the use of the forensic and other capabilities that the police have at their disposal.”

It also informed that Deputy Commissioner of Police Hilroy Brandy stated that as the Police and other Law Enforcement Agencies are doing their best to make St. Kitts and Nevis a safe place for everyone, members of the public are also duty bound to assist in this process.

Brandy, on his behalf and that of the Police Force, took the opportunity to express sympathy to the family members and the community on the loss their loved one.

He also reiterated the call for all citizens and residents to support the Police Force and the other Law Enforcement Agencies in the ongoing fight against crime.
