Digicel working to restore sections of its network affected by Hurricane Irma

By: Digicel, Press Release

Fleet of engineers mobilised to address issues

Thursday, 7th September 2017, Basseterre, St Kitts – Following the passage of Hurricane Irma that wreaked havoc across the northern Caribbean, Digicel has intensified its efforts to bring all its services back online in St. Kitts and Nevis.

As part of the restoration process, Digicel has mobilised a fleet of engineers and technical staff to address the issues across the affected markets in the shortest timeframe possible, with great progress already being made.

Digicel is currently conducting a thorough check of all sites in St. Kitts and Nevis and they have started to restore sites that were disconnected. Cable TV and Broadband services to Nevis have also resumed. We wish to thank our valued customers for their patience during this time.

To ensure that everyone could communicate through the storm, Digicel gifted each and every customer in St. Kitts and Nevis with EC$10 of free credit, valid for 48 hours upon receipt, to contact their loved ones.

Ronan McGrane, CEO of St. Kitts and Nevis, comments; “We know how important it is that we keep people connected to friends and loved ones in times like these and the Digicel family takes that responsibility very seriously. We’re working round the clock to bring all services back online as soon as possible. We will provide updates as necessary.”

Even though conditions associated with Hurricane Irma have abated, Digicel is encouraging all residents of St. Kitts and Nevis to continue to practise safety precautions to protect your lives and families, in light of the impending threat by Hurricane Jose to the region.
