BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- AS the 2009 St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Carnival prepares to go into full swing, nine contestants from various countries will be gearing up for Miss Carival 2009 to be held at Victoria Park from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3.
According to a release out of St. Vincent, six countries have so far provided the names of their representatives. They are Fanny Richardson of Anguilla, Derri Ann Browne of Antigua & Barbuda, Kayan Toussaint of Dominica, Dominican Republic’s Seila Subervi, Samantha Boone of St. Kitts & Nevis and Venezuela’s Deyanira Morales, while SVG will be represented by the reigning Miss SVG, Veronique Williams.
The contestants are schedule to arrive in St. Vincent with their chaperones on Tuesday, June 30 and are scheduled to leave on Saturday, July 4.
The release further states that a programme of activities is being finalised for the contestants while in that country. This will include a briefing and sashing ceremony, media meet, visit to the Hon. Prime Minister and his Cabinet Members, a motorcade around Kingstown, visit to business houses in Kingstown, live radio interviews, open interview session, CDC shows and a dress rehearsal.
The winner of the Miss Carival 2009 title will receive US$4 300 from the CDC, while the First Runner-up will get US$1300, and the Second Runner-up US$700, along with gifts from local business houses.
The reigning Queen, Ronique Dellimore, also hails from SVG.
The SVG Carnival goes into full swing as of tomorrow (June 26) with a show dubbed “Ragga Soca”.
