    St. Kitts and Nevis Permanent Representative to the OAS and current President of the OAS Permanent Council, His Excellency Dr. Izben Williams
    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 2ND 2005 - St. Kitts and Nevis will be represented by a two-person delegation at this week's IV Summit of the Americas in Argentina.

     

    Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Theresa Nisbett and Permanent Representative to the Organisation of the American States

     

    (OAS) and current President of the OAS Permanent Council, His Excellency Dr.

     

    Izben Williams, will represent the twin-island Federation at the November 4th and 5th meeting in Mar del Plata.

     

    The theme of the IV Summit is: "Creating Jobs to Fight Poverty and Strengthen Democratic Governance," and is aimed at giving employment a central place on the hemispheric agenda.

     

    At the IV Summit of the Americas, concrete policies and actions will be defined to "generate decent employment in the framework of a new paradigm which will imbue economic transformations with strong ethical contents reflective of the democratic system."

     

    The meeting of Presidents and Heads of State of the Americas will build the consensus necessary to strengthen democracy in the Hemisphere through more jobs and less poverty.

     

    The IV Summit of the Americas is the highest hemispheric political forum.
