God’s compassions never fail

By: Bertram Charles

    Scripture: Lamentations 3: Verse 22

In times of calamities, disasters, hurricanes, tragedies, and other catastrophes, we are not fully consumed because of the Lord’s mercy and loving kindness. In such circumstances, God has spared our lives due to His gracious promise. We have not been utterly cut off for our sins.

Material things may be destroyed. Our mortal bodies may break down or break up through wear and tear and eventually perish by death, but not the souls that are immortal. Though our peace, joy and comfort may be gone for a while through tribulation, change, decay, disappointment, darkness or failure, our faith, hope, trust and love will abide because there is an abundance of God’s grace, mercy and goodness in the Lord.

In all occasions, in the good times and in the bad times, in season and out of season, on the mountain top and in the valley, in affliction and in distress, God’s mercies cease not. They are enduring and everlasting. They are new every morning. We experience His mercy and compassion both physically and spiritually. They are ever new, always fresh and vigorous. They are constant and perpetual like the love, grace and mercy of God. All that we need His hands have provided. Great is God’s faithfulness unto us.

When the storm clouds appear in the sky and the temporary raging wind of calamity, affliction, disaster, sickness and failure attend us, God’s faithfulness brings peace, safety, security, comfort, assurance, protection and help in the midst of the storm.

These storms would not last but the Lord’s faithfulness, mercies and promises endure forever.  They never change. God is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever. (Mal. 3: 6) The mercy and loving kindness of the Lord are from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him. His mercy is manifested in the abundance of His grace and in the plan of salvation and redemption in sending His Son to die for the forgiveness of our sins.
