BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has announced that effective from today (Oct. 8), the Old Road Police Station is temporarily closed and has been relocated to Main Street, Green Tree Housing in the vicinity of the Faith Tabernacle Church.
A communiqué from the Police Public Relations Office stated that the High Command had taken that decision because the building that housed the station in Old Road has to undergo “significant renovations over the next months”.
It also stated that, until further notice, the telephone number to the new location is 765-1554.
In addition to that number, anyone desirous of reporting an incident could call Force Headquarters at 465-2241 and his/her report would be forwarded.
The communiqué further stated that in an effort to facilitate the public, the relevant signs would be posted outside the new location.
The relocating of the Old Road Police Station comes as no surprise, as the public was previously informed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Mercilyn Hughes on Thursday (Sept. 28) while speaking on the Force’s weekly radio program ‘Policing With You’ aired on ZIZ Radio.
At that time, she did not provide much information but did inform that the Old Road facility had received some damage during the passage of Hurricane Maria.
The communiqué however stated that the Police High Command regrets any inconvenience this move may cause to the citizens of this District and “wishes to reassure the public that your safety and security continues to be our number one priority. Thanks for your continued support and cooperation”.
