Police Press Release 09-102-017: Report of arrest, convictions and other activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 9, 2017(RSCNPF): Below is a report of Arrests, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period October 6-8 2017 

     

    ARREST AND BAIL:
    Arrested: Jason Williams of Ogee's Ghaut, St. Peters was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Battery. 
    Arrested: Osgar Mohammed a native of Guyana who resides at Bird Rock was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of overstaying his six (6) months permit. 
     
    Arrested/Bailed: Chris Davis of Molyneaux was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of possession of cannabis. He was granted bail in the sum of $1000.00 for his appearance at the District “A” Magistrate’s Court, Basseterre on Monday 6th October 2017. 

    COURT CONVICTION: 
     
    In Matters at the District “A” Magistrate's Court at Basseterre, presided over by His Honour Mr. Benjamin and reported the following Conviction:
     
    -Kishawne Huggins of Fort Thomas Road was convicted and cautioned for operating a vehicle when his front seat passenger wasn't wearing a seat-belt. 

    -Jason Browne of Camps was convicted and cautioned for driving without a seat-belt 
     
    -Arthur Jones -Fyfield of College Housing Site was convicted and cautioned for Careless driving.
     
    -Israel Williams of Roxbourough Street was convicted for failing to display a licence sticker on his vehicle, and fined $150.00 EC, which is to be paid in 7 days or if in default will serve 7 days imprisonment. 
     
    -Dion Griffith of Godwin Ghaut was convicted for failing to display a licence sticker on his vehicle, and fined $150.00, which to be paid in 7 days or if in default serve 7 days in prison.
     
    - Fleurette Williams of Lower Monkey Hill was convicted for careless driving which, and fined $500.00, which is to be paid in 6 weeks or if in default will serve 12 weeks imprisonment. She was also convicted for failing to produce her Insurance policy to the Police in 5 days and was ordered to pay $500.00 in 6 weeks or if in default will serve 12 weeks imprisonment.
     
    -Fazia Subhan of Ottley’s Village was convicted and cautioned for Careless driving.

    In Matters at the District “C” Magistrate’s Court at Charlestown, presided over by Her Honour, Miss Donna Harris, the following convictions and sentences were handed down: 

    -Verez Dore of Bath Village was convicted and fined $600.00, which is to be paid in One (1) month or if in default will serve Seven (7) days hard labour for the offence of Driving without due care and attention. 

    -Viola Richards of Government Road was convicted and fined $250.00, which is to be paid in seven (7) days or if in default will serve seven (7) days hard labour for the offence of Failing to comply with traffic sign. 

    -Latecia Richards of Government Road was convicted and fined $250.00, which is to be paid in seven (7) days or if in default will serve seven (7) days hard labour for the offence of  Failing to comply with traffic sign.

    -Mervan France of Maddens was convicted and fined $800.00, which is to be paid in one (1) month or if in default will serve seven (7) days hard labour for the offence of Driving without due care and attention.

    OTHER ACTIVITY:
    Search Warrants Executed: Police executed number of Search Warrants during the period of this report. Warrants were executed on properties in the following areas: Lime Kiln, Clay Ghaut, and Upper Cane Garden. The warrants were executed in search of illegal firearms and ammunition, illegal drugs, and instruments that can be used in criminal activity. 

    Abandoned Properties: Police continues to execute searches of abandoned properties; most recent searches were done in the following areas: Haynes Smith Village, Upper Market Street and Haynes Smith Village
