BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE have informed that Clive Sylvester Williams, also known as ‘Ras’, of Osborne Street, Lower Cayon, was on Thursday (Oct. 12) charged with murder as a result of the stabbing-death of his younger brother.

According to reports, some time after 7:00 p.m. on Monday (Oct. 9), Williams, a farmer, had stabbed his younger sibling, Mervin Flaherty, during an altercation at the family’s Osborne Street, Lower Cayon home.

He was rushed to the JNF General Hospital in a private vehicle but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Flaherty, who was a pilot with the Tortola-based Air Sunshine, had returned to St. Kitts for his mother’s funeral which was scheduled to take place some time during this week.

His death has taken to 20 the number of homicides committed in the twin-island Federation for this year; seven on Nevis and 13 on St. Kitts.

Following Williams’ arrest and subsequent charge, head of the Violent Crimes Unit, Inspector Mackie Smith had expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all who assisted in the swift completion of investigations into the incident.

He also extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
