Fire damages Lemongrass and Ashbury’s establishments

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – QUICK reaction by officers of the Basseterre Fire Rescue Services averted what could have been a major disaster in the capital of St. Kitts today (Oct. 17). 

     

    According to information reaching SKNVibes News, the fire started shortly after 5:00 a.m. in the upper flat of the two-storied building in The Circus.
     
    Reports indicate that the fire started in the northern section of the building that houses Ashbury’s office and store, the Lemongrass Restaurant, Reliance Travel Agency and a photo studio.
     
    SKNVibes understands that the fire started in the Lemongrass Restaurant before spreading to the ceiling of Ashbury’s office, which is adjacent to the restaurant.
     
    SKNVibes also understands that Ashbury’s store’ which is located on the ground floor, sustained some degree of damage.
     
    When this media house paid a visit to the scene, fire officers had already extinguished the fire, while Ashbury’s staff members were already clearing the establishment of debris from the ground floor.

    According to Fire Chief Everette O’Garro, initial invesrigations suggest that the fire was of an electrical nature.
