BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ROTARACT’S District Representative, Kezra Lashley has wrapped up a successful four-day visit to St. Kitts and Nevis, where he undertook a number of community projects while working with youths.

Lashley left the Federation on Sunday (Oct. 15) for his homeland, Trinidad, and Tobago, but before departing disclosed that he met with the Rotarack Clubs on both islands and had interacted with many young people.

He was also privileged to attend a meeting of the local Rotary Club, intimating that “it is good to see that the Rotary family is alive and well from that young age”.

On Saturday, last, he participated in one of the community projects with a group of Rotaractors, when they repaired a garden at the Seventh Day Adventist School in St. Kitts.

“It was a lot of work, but it was really enjoyable and it was great seeing all the Rotaractors coming together and committed to seeing the project through,” he said.

On Nevis, he participated in a Senior Citizens community project working with the elderly.

The Nevis Rotaract Club made a donation to the Flamboyant Nursing Home and spent time with the elderly – feeding and interacting with them.

“We learnt a lot from the residents there and we also saw the hard working staff who were very passionate about what they do.”

Before wrapping up his visit, Lashley took time out to attend a church service with various members of the St. Kitts Club.

The non-governmental organization is geared to facilitate young people between the ages of 18 and 30 to promote community service, professional development, networking and fellowship.

Just recently, Lashley explained that his club seeks to assist youths in any way possible, disclosing that one of the ways they look at addressing the problem of trouble youths in the region is by having them join the NGO.

“It is a great opportunity to engage the young people of the region. This is our world and we need to take care of them. So, it is a great opportunity to influence and engage them to interpret these different Caribbean islands from our district, which spans from St. Kitts and Nevis to French Guiana,” Lashley said.
