Sylver’s shock defending champions Unity with revenge win in Constituency Seven Domino League

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, October 18, 2017 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- Defending champions Unity had beaten them at home at Tacky Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village in the first round of the home-away round robin stage of this year’s edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition.

But on Tuesday evening October 17, Captain Octavia Huggins of Sylver’s Domino Club unleashed terror on the unsuspecting defending champions in their home ground at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project when they humbled the Captain Edmund ‘Fergie’ Rawlins boys 13-9.

For the now struggling defending champions, it was a moment they want to forget very quickly as the beating they received from Captain Octavia Huggins’ boys among them the league organiser Calvin Farrell was witnessed by none other than the sponsor of the league, Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.

After a busy day at the office serving the citizens and residents of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, where he left after 8:00 pm, Dr Harris who is also the Area Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Number Seven first stopped at the Lodge Community Centre where two games were taking place simultaneously.

Sylver’s were leading Unity 6-1 when the Prime Minister was watching the heated games, but as much as Unity tried to close the gap and probably overturn the tide which they almost did, they lost steam when it mattered most and allowed Sylver’s to win 13-9.

Lodge who had beaten Giants in the first round experienced an early scare as Giants were leading 4-2 when Prime Minister Harris was around. But the determined Lodge who are trying to recapture the title they lost to Unity turned the game around and won comfortably at 13-7.

From the Lodge Community Centre, sponsor of the league stopped at Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village where another two games were taking place simultaneously. Tabernacle who had in the first round lost at home to Guinness, did not want to let their fellow villager and sponsor of the longest running domino league down and Captain Jason ‘Spoon’ Nisbett boys recorded a sweet revenge by edging out Guinness 13-12.

In the second game played at Bernette Bar and also watched by Prime Minister Harris, Small Corner who had lost to Upsetters in the first round overturned the tables by beating the visiting Mansion Upsetters 14-7. The final game watched by the Prime Minister was between Christchurch and Beers at the Domino House in Mansion where Beers beat Christchurch 13-9. Beers had also won the first round game.

In the last two games played on Tuesday evening, Molineux who had beaten Unstoppable in the first round went ahead and beat them again in the second round 14-7 in a game played at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux. The two teams from Constituency Number Six, Saddlers and Parsons battled it out in Parsons. Saddlers who had won in the first round repeated the feat by beating Parsons at their home ground 13-9.

As the Constituency Seven Domino League races forward in the second round of the round robin stage, the fourth segment has seven games that will be played on Thursday October 19 at six venues. The Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project will host two games where defending champions Unity will be facing Beers, and Unstoppable will be facing Giants.

Molineux will host Parsons at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux; Mansion Upsetters will host Lodge at the Domino House in Mansion; Tabernacle will be at home to Christchurch at the T-Vill’s Hang Out Spot in Tabernacle Village; Saddlers will host Small Corner at Shanty Bar in Saddlers; and Guinness will host Sylver’s at Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village.
