Finalists Chosen For Ministry of Education Primary Schools Independence Elocution Competition

    (EMU)St. Kitts, October 09, 2017 – The long awaited Ministry of Education Primary Schools Independence Elocution Competition which was put off to weather imposed postponements in the Month of September will now be held on Friday, October 20th, 2017 at 7p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, Romney Ground, Sandy Point.

     

    Advancing to the finals are first and second place winners in each zone as follows:
     
    1. Basseterre Zone: 1st was Deane Glasford Primary and 2nd was Beach Allen Primary 
     
    2. East Zone: 1st was Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary and 2nd was Saddlers Primary
     
    3. West Zone: 1st was Tyrell Williams Primary and 2nd was Sandy Point Primary

    These finalists will vie for prominence as they deliver "Creative, Industrious Youth" by Sanjay Caines, a local poet who is also an IT technician in the Ministry of Education. The poem can be found on page 37 of his book, "Life's Questions - Come to my Homeland".)

    Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Mr. William Hodge said the semifinals was opened to all government schools in St. Kitts and that based on the performance of the zonal eliminations, it is anticipated that the finals would be keenly contested and of a high standard.

    The Permanent Secretary therefore sends out an appeal for Citizens of the Federation to encourage patriotism and support the students as they participate in the event.

    The Calvary Baptist Tabernacle Church is opposite the entrance to Brimstone Hill.
