Roadtown, Tortola  - Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Social Development encouraged students of the Robinson O’Neal Primary School on Virgin Gorda to aspire towards greatness in their lives.

Her words of encouragement came during a visit today by the 25 students who were accompanied by teachers Mrs. Grasia Dore and Ms. Nicole Rogers, along with several parents. Honourable Penn welcomed the students, who ranged between eight and ten years of age, to her office shortly after they paid a similar visit to Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal OBE.

“I spoke to each child in turn and I asked about their career aspirations. I told them that although their career choices may change as they get older they should do their utmost to do their chosen careers well,” said Honourable Penn. The minister also introduced the students to some of the ministry’s staff, who she invited to inform the visiting students about the respective roles that they perform in the ministry.

Additionally during her meeting with the students, teachers, and parents who travelled from the sister island of Virgin Gorda, Honourable Penn answered the students’ questions.

The students were also given tours of some of the departments, divisions, and units that fall under the ministry including the Office of Gender Affairs, Environmental Health Division, Sandy Lane Centre, and the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly. The Ministry of Health and Social Development aspires to provide leadership that promotes health, social wellbeing, and a safe environment as positive resources for living and sustainable development of the Virgin Islands (UK).
