BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POPULAR telecommunication giant, Cable and Wireless Business yesterday (Nov. 17) held a one-day workshop geared towards assisting hoteliers in better understanding the changing trends of customers – and their need for technology.

The workshop, which was held at the Ocean Terrace Inn, saw the presence of a number of representatives from the hotel sector on St. Kitts.

FLOW St. Kitts’ General Manager, David Lake explained that they believe it is an import event, as Cable and Wireless has been providing unparalleled service to the hospitality industry across the region.

To that end, he stressed that the time is now for St. Kitts and Nevis to experience the hospitality excellence.

“What we are doing basically is using technology to allow hotel and resort operators to deliver a superior product, a superior guest experience. Ours is a service that is backed by reliability,” he stated.

He continued by pointing out that they are changing the way hotel and resort operators think about technology across the region as a business enabler to provide an enhance service.

According to Cable and Wireless Business’ Sales Engineer Manager for the Caribbean, Shelton Flash – who conducted the session - his main aim was to ensure that hoteliers understand the demographics of guests who are visiting their hotels, and exactly what it is that they want from a guest experience perspective.

He noted that there are times when hoteliers miss the mark in terms of what guests are looking for, as the visitors want to continue to experience their digital world similar to when they are at home – or even have a better experience when they are on the property.

“So, the expectation here is to ensure that hoteliers alike understand what these guests are actually looking for and to be able to prepare for their new wave of guests,” Flash explained.

According to Flash, hoteliers with whom he would have conducted sessions are seeing great responses from their customers.

That is a result of them better understanding the needs of their customers, who would want mobility and updated WiFi, among other things they deem necessary.

“Guests are looking for a much better digital experience and being able to connect and to be able to share. Hoteliers across the region are now ensuring that their properties are ramped-up with the necessary technology to give their guest the best experience,” Flash said.

The IT specialist explained that he would like to see hotels improve their WiFi capability, television experience with the form being the most important.

“People just want WIFI, and so you have to give them that and they are pretty much happy from a technological perspective.”
